Palm beach: US President Donald Trump held a phone call today, Sunday, with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s Spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, confirmed to Russian media that a phone call took place today between the Russian and American presidents, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. Trump described the call as “very productive,” emphasizing its importance before his scheduled meeting with Ukrainian President Zelensky.

Trump stated, “I just had a very productive phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin ahead of my meeting with Ukrainian President Zelensky scheduled for 1:00 PM (9:00 PM Moscow time) today (Sunday).” He further mentioned that the meeting with Zelensky would occur in the presence of the press at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.

The White House had announced on Saturday Donald Trump’s plans to meet with Vladimir Zelensky in Florida. The scheduled bilateral meeting was set for 3:00 PM local time in Palm Beach (11:00 PM Moscow time on Sunday), as per the President’s itinerary.

Earlier on Friday, Trump expressed optimism about reaching an understanding with Zelensky during their meeting, highlighting the “potential for progress on a number of issues on the agenda.”
