Washington: US President Donald Trump announced today, Tuesday, a series of economic measures against Canada, including increasing customs duties on a number of goods and products. Trump stated in a press release that he has instructed the Minister of Commerce to impose an additional 25% increase on customs duties for Canadian imports.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Trump emphasized that his administration will soon declare a state of emergency in the electricity sector. He considers this part of a series of steps to protect US national security.
Trump also revealed plans to raise customs duties on imported cars starting from the second of next month. This measure will be implemented if Canada does not retract the customs duties it has imposed on US imports.
