Washington: US President Donald Trump announced the appointment of Assistant Secretary of the Army Adam Till as Acting Secretary of the Army, marking a significant shift within the US administration’s Department of Defense.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Trump administration also introduced new regulations that will impact educational and academic institutions running programs focused on minority students. The regulations, issued by the US Treasury Department, aim to withdraw tax exemptions from approximately 18,000 institutions. This decision is part of the administration’s broader strategy to challenge affirmative action policies, particularly following recent investigations into medical schools in the United States.
The latest regulatory changes are anticipated to create obstacles for institutions reliant on fundraising, as they navigate the implications of losing tax-exempt status.
