Trump Hints At Imminent Announcement On Progress In Nuclear Talks With Iran

New Jersey: US President Donald Trump confirmed progress with Iran regarding its nuclear program, and hinted at the possibility of an announcement within the “next two days.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Trump was noticeably more optimistic than the Omani mediator for the talks between the United States and Iran, who said on Friday that the two countries had made “partial… but inconclusive” progress in the fifth round of negotiations in Rome.

“We had very good talks with Iran,” Trump told reporters in northern New Jersey after leaving the golf club, where he spent most of the weekend. “I don’t know if I’m going to tell you anything good or bad in the next two days, but I have a feeling I might tell you something good.”

He added, “We made real progress, serious progress” in the talks that took place on Saturday and Sunday.

The United States was represented at the talks, which took place at the Omani embassy in Rome, by Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and Director of Policy Planning at the State Department, Michael Anton.

The two countries are discussing how to reach an agreement about Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for lifting some of the economic sanctions imposed by the United States on Tehran.
