Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he has ordered the deployment of two nuclear submarines to “relevant areas” in response to what he described as “highly provocative and dangerous” statements made by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Trump, in a post on social media, stated that the deployment is a measure against the “reckless and inflammatory” remarks made by Medvedev. Trump emphasized the importance of words and their potential to lead to unintended consequences, expressing hope that the situation would not escalate further.

Medvedev had earlier responded to Trump’s ultimatum regarding a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. He cautioned Trump about the implications of ultimatums, stating that Russia is a different entity compared to countries like Israel and Iran, and warned that such actions could lead to broader conflicts involving the United States.

In addition to the recent developments, President Trump had earlier threatened to impose “strict” tariffs on Russia’s trading partners if Moscow does not agree to a ceasefire by September 2. This move is part of a series of actions aimed at pressuring Russia amidst ongoing tensions with Ukraine.
