Washington: US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Friday amending reciprocal tariffs on several countries with which no customs agreements have been reached, while simultaneously reducing tariffs on four Arab countries, including Iraq.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, as part of the new trade measures, US President Donald Trump reduced tariffs on Iraq from 39% to 35%, as part of a package of tariffs recently announced. The new tariffs ranged from 10%, the minimum announced in April, to 41%, which was imposed on Syria.

These tariffs will take effect within seven days of the signing of the executive order. According to the list published by the White House, “Trump raised tariffs on 20 countries, including Turkey, Switzerland, and Canada, while reducing them on 40 countries, compared to the levels he announced last April, as part of what he called Liberation Day.”
