Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Friday that the outcome of the negotiations regarding the Ukrainian crisis will become clear within the next two weeks. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said, “Nothing about this conflict makes me happy. We’ll see what happens later, and I believe that within the next two weeks, we will discover the course of events.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the U.S. president acknowledged that a potential meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky may not yield tangible results on its own. Trump added that he will make a “critical decision” regarding the settlement based on the developments in the Ukrainian crisis, which could involve sanctions, tariffs, or “taking no action.”

Trump elaborated, “In two weeks, you will know the course of events. By that time, I believe I will understand Russia’s approach, and frankly, Ukraine’s approach. Ultimately, there are two paths, and I will make my decision after that.”

The U.S. president also predicted that Russian President Putin would attend the World Cup scheduled to be held in the United States next year.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed that Putin is ready to meet with Zelensky once the summit’s agenda is finalized, noting that Zelensky has rejected all Ukrainian settlement proposals deemed necessary by Trump. Lavrov said in an interview with Western media: “No date for the meeting has been set. Putin is ready to meet Zelensky when the summit agenda is ready, and that agenda is not ready at all.”
