Washington: US President Donald Trump confirmed that “Palestinians have no right to return according to his plan to take over the Gaza Strip.” Trump had spoken on more than one occasion about his desire to displace the residents of the Strip to Egypt and Jordan, stressing that the two countries would accept and do so.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Trump’s latest statement indicated that the residents of the Strip would not be able to return to their land again if they were displaced according to the plan he proposed to take over and rebuild the Strip. In a previous statement, Trump confirmed his commitment to buying and owning the Strip, indicating the possibility of granting parts of it to other countries in the Middle East to contribute to its reconstruction.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced in a statement yesterday that “an emergency Arab summit will be held in Cairo on February 27 to discuss the new and dangerous developments in the Palestinian issue.” Several countries and organizatio
ns have previously expressed their opposition and condemnation of the US President’s proposal for US control over the Gaza Strip, and have also denounced the idea of displacing Palestinians from the Strip.
