Washington: President Donald Trump’s trade adviser, Peter Navarro, stated on Sunday that the United States would face significant consequences if the U.S. Supreme Court ultimately blocks the president’s extensive tariffs.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Navarro’s comments mirror President Trump’s own stance, following a 7-4 appeals court decision that declared most of Trump’s tariffs illegal. This ruling threatens a major component of the administration’s economic strategy. The U.S. Supreme Court is anticipated to deliver the final verdict on this contentious issue.

As the debate over Trump’s tariffs escalates, the president’s advisors view the eventual decision as crucial for the nation’s future. Navarro expressed his views on Fox’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” describing the situation as “weaponized partisan injustice at its worst.” He emphasized, “If we lose the case, President Trump is right. It will be the end of the United States.”

Navarro remains hopeful about the administration’s case before the Supreme Court, stating, “Having a very strong dissent is a roadmap for the Supreme Court. We are very optimistic.”

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit recently determined that President Trump overstepped his presidential authority by using the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977 to impose broad “reciprocal” tariffs on nearly every nation worldwide. The court has permitted Trump’s tariffs to stay in place until October 14, providing the administration time to appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court.

President Trump reacted to the rulings on his Truth Social platform, asserting, “If these tariffs are struck down, it will be a total disaster for the country.” He added, “With the help of the United States Supreme Court, we will use tariffs to benefit our nation, and we will make America rich, strong, and powerful again!”
