Doha: Turkey and Qatar signed a series of agreements on Tuesday covering vital areas such as ammunition production, systems engineering, naval platforms, technology exchange, and the establishment of sustainable industrial partnerships.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Head of Turkey’s Defense Industries Presidency, Haluk Grgn, stated in a press conference following the signing of the agreements, which took place on the sidelines of his participation in the Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2026) in Qatar, that the new agreements with Qatar will strengthen the existing defense cooperation between the two countries.
Grgn added that the “strategic defense cooperation” between Turkey and Qatar is deepening further through these new agreements, emphasizing that “these new steps represent a tangible reflection of the strategic vision that has been built between the two countries.”
He stressed that the defense industries are at the forefront of the strategic partnership between Turkey and Qatar. He emphasized that Turkey continues to utilize its advanced capabilities to develop defense platforms, systems, and solutions that can meet Qatar’s needs, as well as providing suitable solutions for other countries as well.
The Turkish official also noted his country’s extensive participation in the DIMDEX 2026 exhibition, where it has the largest number of defense industry companies participating compared to other countries. He pointed out that the Turkish defense industry ended 2024 with a growth rate of 28 percent and exports reaching $7.1 billion. In 2025, the same sector achieved a growth rate of 48 percent, with exports exceeding $10 billion.
