Ankara: Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Gler announced his country’s plan to acquire 44 Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets, purchasing 20 aircraft from the United Kingdom, 12 from Qatar, and 12 from the Sultanate of Oman.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a statement to reporters during his inspection of three British aircraft of this type at an air base in the Turkish capital, Ankara, Gler said that his country plans to purchase 20 Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets from Britain, 12 from Qatar, and 12 from the Sultanate of Oman.
Gler indicated that the aircraft to be acquired from Qatar are likely to arrive early in the new year.
Earlier today, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer signed a cooperation agreement between the two countries regarding the Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets.
The Eurofighter Typhoon is a European 4.5th-generation fighter jet designed to achieve air superiority and carry out precision strikes against ground targets.
