Istanbul: Turkey has introduced the “Wrath” and “Ghost” bombs at the 17th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2025) in Istanbul, showcasing advancements in locally produced military technology.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the head of the Turkish Ministry of Defense’s Research and Development Center, Nulifer Gzlu, highlighted that the center has been actively producing military equipment for 12 years, with 80 percent of the products on display ready for use. The remaining 20 percent are currently undergoing field testing.

Gzlu elaborated on the development and capabilities of the Wrath and Ghost bombs, stating their design and manufacturing are based on extensive experience. She noted that the Wrath bomb, a MK84 munition, can be deployed from F-16 and F-4 fighters. It is distinguished by its 10,000 shrapnel, which disperse over a one-kilometer radius upon explosion, delivering a significant pressure effect in the target area. The Wrath bomb disperses approximately 10.16 shrapnel per square meter, making it three times more powerful than comparable munitions.

Regarding the Ghost bomb, Gzlu explained its wall-piercing capability, comparable to conventional munitions. Tests conducted on concrete blocks demonstrated its ability to penetrate deeper than standard munitions, which typically achieve penetration depths of 1.8 to 2.4 meters. The Ghost bomb is the result of six months of development, with its first successful test conducted last December.

Gzlu further detailed a free-fire test conducted on an island, where the Ghost bomb penetrated 90 meters and its impact was visible over a 160-meter distance, showcasing its effective range.

The IDEF 2025 exhibition, concluding this evening, saw participation from companies in 44 countries. More than 400 international companies, along with major Turkish defense industry companies and entrepreneurs, displayed their products at the event.
