Turkey’s Population Exceeds 86 Million by the End of 2025


Ankara: Turkey’s population increased by 427,224 people by the end of 2025 compared to the end of 2024, reaching 86,092,168.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the latest statistics published by the Turkish Statistical Institute on Monday revealed that males comprised 50.02 percent (43,059,434 people), while females comprised 49.98 percent (43,032,734 people).

The annual population growth rate increased from 3.4 per thousand in 2024 to 5 per thousand in 2025. In 2025, the number of foreign residents in Turkey increased by 38,968 compared to the previous year, reaching 1,519,515. Foreigners holding visas or residence permits for periods of less than 90 days, as well as Syrians under temporary protection status, were excluded from the census of foreign residents in the country.
