Ankara: The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the completion of its security measures along its 560-kilometer border with Iran.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the official Spokesperson for the Turkish Ministry of Defense, Zeki Aktrk, stated in a press briefing today, Thursday: ‘The installation of 203 photovoltaic towers and 43 towers equipped with elevators has been completed, along with the construction of 380 kilometers of concrete walls and the digging of 553 kilometers of trenches along the border with Iran.’
Aktrk emphasized in his press briefing that the security of the 560-kilometer border with Iran is ensured by the Border Guard Forces with great dedication around the clock, in all weather conditions and terrains, based on the understanding that ‘the border is a matter of honor.’
He added: “A technologically supported border security system is being established along our borders, and the capabilities and resources of our border guard forces are constantly being improved, with increased measures being taken in this regard.”
The Turkish Defense Ministry spokesperson noted that work is proceeding rapidly to improve existing trenches, and the border line and approach routes are being monitored 24/7 in all weather and terrain conditions using current reconnaissance and surveillance equipment.
He also said: “Reconnaissance and surveillance patrols are being conducted in the area around the clock using unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems. Although no mass migration towards our borders has been detected at present, additional measures have been studied along the border line, and these measures will be implemented as needed.”
