Cairo: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will begin an official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt tomorrow, Saturday, during which he will hold talks with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and senior Egyptian officials. The discussions will focus on bilateral relations and pressing regional issues.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, sources at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday that Fidan’s visit will address ways to enhance multidimensional cooperation between Ankara and Cairo in various fields, in addition to reviewing the latest developments in the Gaza crisis, which, according to the sources, has witnessed ‘genocidal’ military operations by Israel for the past 22 months.

The two sides are also expected to discuss the progress of ceasefire negotiations between Hamas and Israel, mediated by Egypt and Qatar under U.S. supervision, as well as joint efforts to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The talks will also cover Israel’s recent steps, which-according to the sources-aim to undermine the two-state solution and annex the Gaza Strip, describing them as the biggest obstacle to peace and stability in the region.

Fidan will further discuss with his Egyptian counterparts the outcomes of the International Conference on Palestine, held in New York from July 28 to 30, along with challenges in North and East Africa-particularly in Libya, Sudan, Somalia, and the Sahel Belt-and the potential roles Turkey and Egypt can play in addressing these crises.

Fidan’s visit comes shortly after the Israeli government approved a plan to occupy the remaining parts of the Gaza Strip.
