Doha: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is paying a two-day official visit to Qatar later on Wednesday, marking his third visit to Doha this year.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Fidan’s talks with Qatari officials will focus on assessing the growing strategic partnership between the two countries. Discussions will include preparations for the 11th meeting of the Supreme Strategic Committee, set to be held in Doha this year, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani chairing the event.

The agenda will also cover an exchange of assessments regarding the current status of the ceasefire talks in Gaza. The discussions aim to explore possible additional steps to address the situation and work towards achieving a two-state solution.

In addition, the talks will include preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at Turkey’s invitation, highlighting its role as Chair of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization. The discussions will further assess joint efforts by Turkey and Qatar to enhance stability and security in Syria, along with potential cooperation projects. The talks will emphasize the importance of continuing capacity building in Syria and ensuring that no party, particularly Israel, disrupts its stability.

Foreign Ministry sources noted that the meetings will also focus on enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, energy, tourism, and contracting. Both countries aim to increase their trade exchange volume from $1.1 billion in 2024 to $5 billion, leveraging the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement that became effective on August 1.
