Doha: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to make an official visit to Qatar tomorrow, Sunday, to engage in discussions on several crucial bilateral and regional issues, with a particular focus on the situations in Palestine and Syria.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the visit underscores the strategic partnership established between Turkey and Qatar in 2014. This partnership has been continuously fortified through high-level visits, regular contacts, and the signing of an extensive array of agreements. The Supreme Strategic Committee serves as the institutional backbone of Turkish-Qatari relations, holding annual meetings co-chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Since 2015, these meetings have been hosted alternately by Turkey and Qatar.

At the conclusion of these committee meetings, Turkey and Qatar have signed approximately 107 agreements, comprehensively covering various areas of bilateral cooperation. Notably, the trade volume between the two nations surpassed the $1 billion mark in 2024, reflecting the robust economic ties between them.

Turkey and Qatar share a unified approach to regional peace and stability, particularly concerning Palestine and Syria. Both countries continue to consult closely on these matters and cooperate at bilateral and multilateral levels. This includes working together within platforms like the Contact Group of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the League of Arab States to address and halt Israeli aggression on Gaza.
