Turkish Foreign Minister Urges Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza During Talks with Blinken

Istanbul – In a significant meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan emphasized the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, where Israel has been engaged in military action since October 7.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during their meeting in Ankara, Fidan stressed the importance of halting Israel's targeting of civilians and their displacement in Gaza. The meeting, focused on the regional developments, particularly the situation in Gaza, also touched upon bilateral relations between Turkey and the United States.

The discussions, which lasted over two hours, saw both sides agreeing on the necessity of protecting civilians and ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid in the region. The Turkish Foreign Ministry's statement highlighted the mutual understanding between Turkey and the U.S. regarding the protection of civilians and aid delivery.

Furthermore, the need for collaborative efforts towards achieving a two-state solution was underscored during the talks. Fidan, in his dialogue with Blinken, declared the bombing of civilian targets and the destruction of infrastructure in Gaza as “unacceptable,” reiterating Turkey's stance on the issue.
