Damascus: Turkish Intelligence Chief Ibrahim Kalin met with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa on Wednesday in Damascus. The meeting focused on bilateral and regional security issues, highlighting the strategic importance of cooperation between the two nations.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussions emphasized the significance of Syria's territorial integrity, sovereignty, political stability, and social peace. Kalin reiterated Turkey's commitment to supporting Syria, expressing Turkey's readiness to assist the Syrian government as needed.
The meeting also covered Syria's ongoing efforts to combat internal and external threats. Both sides discussed the fight against the terrorist organization ISIS, as well as strategies for developing Syria's institutional capacities and enhancing border and customs security.
Furthermore, the talks addressed economic conditions in Syria and the voluntary, safe return of Syrian refugees to their homeland, underscoring the collaborative efforts to stabilize and rebuild the region.
