Baghdad: Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus declared that Turkey will not permit the division of the region along ethnic or sectarian lines under any circumstances. Speaking at an event in the western province of Afyonkarahisar, Kurtulmus emphasized Turkey’s commitment to maintaining unity and resisting any colonial-like strategies aimed at dividing the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Kurtulmus highlighted the arbitrary nature of borders drawn in the region and the immense economic burden Turkey has faced due to decades of terrorism, estimating the cost at $2.3 trillion. He criticized the support given to terrorist organizations by proxy entities as an effort to fragment the region further. Kurtulmus stressed the importance of demonstrating superior wisdom to counter these imperialistic tactics.

Kurtulmus also addressed the integration of the so-called “SDF” forces, associated with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), into Syrian military institutions. He noted that any setbacks in t
his process could negatively affect the atmosphere in Turkey. The recent announcement of the successful integration marks an important milestone for Turkey, which views this development as a step toward regional stability.

He explained that the progress in integrating Syria’s ethnic and sectarian components within a single state structure has contributed to Syria’s removal from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. Kurtulmus pointed out that the positive changes in the region are evidence of Turkey’s vision of a “Turkey without terrorism,” which extends to a region free of terrorism.

In his remarks, Kurtulmus also criticized Israel’s actions in the region, accusing it of expansionist ambitions and attacking multiple countries. He emphasized Turkey’s role in establishing peace and brotherhood in the region, suggesting that such efforts would counter Israel’s threats.
