Najran: The town of Najran, located northwest of As-Sweida, became the scene of a violent armed conflict between local Druze factions and an unidentified armed group. The clashes resulted in the deaths of two individuals from both sides and the destruction of several homes.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the armed attack led to significant material damage, and several civilian homes were set ablaze before the attacking group withdrew from the area. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights noted the attack’s starting point was the Qarasa and Douiri Agricultural Road, where medium weapons were used, thus breaching a declared truce.

The Observatory also reported that since July 13, the death toll from various confrontations, including field executions and Israeli bombings, has climbed to 1,622 across different regions.

A recent report from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) highlighted ongoing hostilities in As-Sweida province and its western countryside from August 1 to 5, despite a ceasefire agreement. The report detailed incidents in areas like Kharassa, Arabi, and Tal Hadid – Al-Thala’a, which experienced clashes and artillery fire, alongside increased Israeli air activity heightening regional tensions. The conflict has led to the internal displacement of more than 191,000 people to neighboring provinces.

Since late July, a ceasefire has been in effect after a series of bloody weekly clashes between Druze armed groups and Bedouin clans.
