New york: The “Two-State Solution” Conference began at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, co-chaired by France and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Leaders and heads of state from numerous countries around the world participated in the event.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, French President Emmanuel Macron announced France’s recognition of the State of Palestine, aiming to achieve a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and implement the two-state solution. During his speech at the opening session, Macron emphasized the urgency of recognizing the Palestinian state, stating, “We can no longer wait to recognize the Palestinian state.” He noted the collective responsibility for the failure to establish a just peace in the Middle East thus far.

Macron highlighted that France’s recognition of the Palestinian state confirms the significance of the Palestinian people and fulfills France’s historical commitment to the Middle East. He also mentioned that this recognition is accompanied by similar acknowledgments from other countries, which will facilitate beneficial negotiations for both Israelis and Palestinians, and help break the cycle of violence.

Macron pointed out the unfulfilled promise of establishing an Arab state in Palestine and criticized ongoing Israeli operations in Gaza, stressing that the war must end to save lives. He declared the urgent necessity of a political solution based on two states to ensure regional stability.

Emphasizing collective responsibility, Macron called for effective political action to address the failure to build a comprehensive peace in the Middle East. He underscored the importance of recognizing legitimacy and humanity as the solution to halt destruction.

Macron also expressed France’s readiness to contribute to an international mission for the post-ceasefire phase in Gaza. He announced plans to open a French embassy in the Palestinian territories following the release of hostages and a ceasefire in Gaza.
