Two Suspects Arrested For Luring A Minor Girl From Basra To Diyala


Diyala: Diyala Police Command announced details of an operation to lure a minor girl from Basra to Diyala province through false promises of marriage.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Command stated, “Based on a report received from the 911 Rapid Response Unit regarding the disappearance of a 14-year-old girl from Basra Governorate, who had been lured to Diyala Governorate via social media, Diyala Police Chief, Major General Muhammad Kadhim Atiya, immediately directed the formation of a specialized team from the officers of Hibhib Police Station to investigate the case and uncover its circumstances.”



The statement added that after gathering and verifying information in the field, and with the help of an informant, the team was able to locate the person who lured the girl to Al-Hadid area with the help of one of his friends. He openly confessed and revealed the girl’s location.



The statement indicated that the necessary legal measures have been taken against the accused, and they have been detained in accordance with legal procedures. The girl is being held in custody pending completion of the remaining legal procedures before being properly returned to her family.



The police leadership urged parents to monitor their sons and daughters, observe their use of social media, and warn them against responding to any suspicious communications or false promises.
