London: Officials from Ukraine, the United States, and several European countries are set to convene in Britain this weekend to strategize their positions before the forthcoming Russian-US summit scheduled for next Friday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the American news website, sources familiar with the situation revealed that Ukraine and certain NATO allies have privately expressed apprehensions that President Donald Trump might potentially accept President Vladimir Putin’s proposals to resolve the Ukrainian conflict without considering their stances.

The idea of an in-person assembly in the United Kingdom emerged during a video conference held last Friday, involving American, Ukrainian, and European representatives. Discussions regarding the meeting’s logistical aspects, including participant identification, are currently underway.

A source disclosed that US President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, who engaged in discussions with Putin at the Kremlin on Wednesday, informed the call’s participants on Friday. Putin agreed to resolve the conflict provided that Ukraine relinquishes the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, along with Crimea.

Axios reported a statement from a Ukrainian official highlighting that even if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky were to consent to Putin’s demands, a referendum would be necessary as ceding any territory is unconstitutional in Ukraine.

Trump announced yesterday that the highly anticipated meeting with the Russian president will occur in Alaska next Friday. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov mentioned that the primary focus of the Alaska summit will be a long-term resolution to the Ukrainian crisis.
