Umm Qasr Naval Base Command Conducts Naval Drill to Protect Oil Platforms in Basra


Umm qasr: Umm Qasr Naval Base Command has carried out a tactical naval exercise titled “Blue Wave”, at the task group level and from a single flank, aimed at enhancing the protection of oil platforms at the Basra Oil Terminal.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, several units from the base took part in the exercise, including the Support Ships Battalion, the Rapid Assault Boats Battalion, the First Patrol Boats Battalion, and the Frogmen and Divers Company. The Ministry of Defense reported that the participating forces demonstrated a high level of competence and professionalism during the drill.



The ministry explained that the exercise aimed to improve the units’ planning capabilities and joint battle management at the task group level, particularly in combating irregular threats. It also sought to evaluate commanders’ performance and raise the overall combat readiness of the units, in a manner that reinforces modern naval warfare concepts.
