UN Report Highlights Impact on Women and Girls in Gaza Since 2023

Gaza:Approximately 50,000 women and girls in the Gaza Strip have been killed or severely injured since the conflict began in October 2023, according to UN Women. This stark figure translates to one in every 21 women and girls in Gaza either losing her life or living with a permanent disability.

Accourding to National Iraqi News Agency, the agency’s statement reported that over 38,000 women and girls have been killed, with around 11,700 severely injured due to Israeli airstrikes and ground military operations. Despite the majority of casualties occurring in the initial two years of the war, women and girls have continued to be affected even after a ceasefire was established in October 2025. Notably, 277 women and girls were killed in Gaza in the past year alone.

The UN Agency further detailed that since October 2023, Israeli occupation forces have issued over 150 evacuation orders across Gaza, forcing about one million women and girls to flee their homes. This situation has led to a doubling of the number of widows and women acting as heads of households in Gaza since the conflict’s onset.
