Basra: The Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mohammed Al-Hassan, visited several heritage and cultural sites in Basra, accompanied by the Deputy Administrative Governor Maher Al-Amiri. Al-Hassan expressed his satisfaction with his ongoing visit to the city, stating, “I am very pleased with my visit to Basra for the second day, as we discover something new every day in this ancient city with its historical heritage.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Hassan emphasized the significance of the sites visited, noting their role in showcasing Basra’s cultural and civilized image. Among the locations visited were the Museum of Basra Shanasheel and an art exhibition organized by the governorate, featuring contributions from local and Iraqi artists. Al-Hassan described these sites as important tourist components that reflect the city’s historical fragrance.

Al-Hassan also highlighted the necessity for collective efforts in developing these heritage and artistic places. He assured that he would convey a positive and honorable image of Basra’s history and civilization based on his observations and experiences during the visit.
