Karbala: The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq, Mohammed Al-Hassan, arrived in the holy Karbala Governorate and was received by Governor Nassif Jassim Al-Khattabi. The Governor welcomed Al-Hassan and his accompanying delegation, praising the humanitarian role played by the United Nations mission. He emphasized Karbala Governorate’s keenness to open up and cooperate with international organizations to enhance the governorate’s status and serve its citizens.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Khattabi gave a brief presentation on the religious and political importance of holy Karbala and its pivotal role in attracting millions of visitors annually, in addition to the governorate’s efforts to improve services, infrastructure, and other vital sectors.
Al-Hassan expressed his pride in visiting the holy city of Karbala, emphasizing that “Karbala is a great city that holds a special place in Iraq.” The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations noted that “the UN mission is closely following the positive transformations taking place in Karbala.”
