New York: The United Nations called for the immediate lifting of the Israeli blockade on Gaza and the immediate entry of aid. UN Spokesman St©phane Dujarric stated at a press conference at the organization’s headquarters that Israel has been preventing the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip for 50 days, warning that this policy is worsening the living and health conditions of the population.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Dujarric highlighted that the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed the absence of essential aid such as food, fuel, and medicine in the Strip. With food stocks almost depleted and medical supplies nearly exhausted, the lives of children and adults suffering from hunger are in jeopardy.

Dujarric pointed out the risk of complete collapse of the health system in Gaza due to the severe shortage of resources. The crisis is further compounded by the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians due to deteriorating conditions and the escalation of Israeli attacks against humanitarian and health workers.

Earlier this April, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported that 1.9 million people have been forcibly displaced amidst bombardment, fear, and loss in the Gaza Strip.
