Undersecretary Highlights Tripartite Cooperation Between Iraq, Egypt, and Jordan on Egypt’s National Day

Baghdad: On the occasion of Egypt's National Day, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hisham Al-Alawi, underscored the significance of the tripartite cooperation mechanism between Iraq, Egypt, and Jordan.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ambassador Al-Alawi participated in a celebration organized by the Egyptian Embassy in Baghdad, marking the 73rd National Day of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The event saw the attendance of government officials, Arab and foreign ambassadors, as well as representatives of diplomatic missions in Baghdad.

During the event, Al-Alawi presented a symbolic gift to the Egyptian Ambassador on behalf of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein. In his address, he extended congratulations to the government and people of Egypt, wishing them progress and prosperity.

Al-Alawi highlighted the historical and civilizational ties between Iraq and Egypt, rooted in the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia and the Nile Valley. He emphasized that these connections form the foundation of bilateral relations, paving the way for cooperation and development.

On the subject of multilateral relations, Al-Alawi stressed the importance of the tripartite cooperation mechanism among Iraq, Egypt, and Jordan. He noted this reflects Iraq's commitment to exploring new avenues of collaboration with these nations, which aims to enhance political coordination, achieve economic integration, and expand trade and investment cooperation. These efforts also seek to safeguard Arab national security amid regional developments.

Furthermore, Al-Alawi called for coordinated Arab efforts in response to repeated regional attacks by Israeli forces, particularly in Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria. He affirmed Iraq's support for Egypt's right to defend its security and condemned policies of displacement and starvation affecting Palestinian civilians in Gaza.

Concluding his speech, Al-Alawi expressed gratitude to Egyptian Ambassador Ahmed Samir and his team in Baghdad for their cooperation, emphasizing Iraq's dedication to strengthening relations with Egypt across various sectors.
