Gaza: The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Trk, has issued a warning regarding the Israeli occupation's systematic destruction in the Gaza Strip, which he suggests is leading to a permanent change in the region's demographics. Trk described the situation as a "challenge to international law and an act of ethnic cleansing."

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Trk expressed concerns over the potential for a large-scale Israeli attack and urged all parties, including those with direct influence, to intervene and halt these plans. The UN official highlighted the deteriorating conditions in Gaza, where medical services are on the verge of collapse, and shelters are becoming increasingly inadequate due to ongoing displacement and demolition orders. Families are reportedly living in substandard conditions, often in tents, as severe hunger worsens because of the Israeli blockade. Additionally, the bombing of major hospitals such as the Nasser Medical Complex and the European Gaza Hospital in Khan Yunis on May 13 has further exacerbated the crisis.

Trk underscored that international humanitarian law mandates the suspension of attacks when they become unlawful. He noted that using hospitals for military purposes is forbidden under international law, referencing the Geneva Conventions. He called on all states to uphold human rights and prevent and punish acts of genocide. Emphasizing the need for accountability, Trk insisted that all parties must comply with these international rules.
