Wasit: A university professor in Wasit has been arrested after making claims of leading a “revolutionary group” with intentions to overthrow the regime. The arrest of Professor Dr. Diaa Shahid, a lecturer at Wasit University, came just hours after he appeared in a video making the contentious claims.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Dr. Shahid was taken into custody by the National Security Service. His arrest was carried out in accordance with the provisions of Article 200 of the Penal Code, which addresses actions perceived as attempts to destabilize the current government.
