UNRWA Commissioner-General Urges Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza

Gaza: The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, has made a stark declaration, stating, "Gaza is dying, and a ceasefire must be reached now."

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Lazzarini's call to action was published in a letter by the UN Agency, highlighting the dire situation in Gaza. The letter disclosed that over 1,500 medical workers and more than 600 starving individuals have been killed while trying to secure food aid, illustrating the grim reality of choosing between two potential deaths.

The UN Agency has urgently called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, where, since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation has been accused of committing genocide.

UNRWA has also communicated via the X platform that the ongoing Israeli blockade must be lifted to allow aid to reach those in need in Gaza. The agency emphasized the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region, stressing that resources such as time, food, medicine, and safe havens have been depleted for the people of Gaza. Thousands of trucks loaded with aid are reportedly waiting to enter Gaza, with supplies sufficient to meet the needs of the entire population.
