Baghdad: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) confirmed that stopping the famine in Gaza is possible if Israel allows immediate and widespread entry of humanitarian aid.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Agency stated on the social media platform “X” that ending the ongoing catastrophe requires the entry of massive amounts of aid through the United Nations, including UNRWA. It emphasized that its warehouses in Jordan and Egypt are fully stocked with necessary supplies of food, medicine, and health supplies, sufficient to fill 6,000 trucks.

This statement follows the declaration by the United Nations and international experts on Friday regarding the official and widespread outbreak of famine in Gaza. It is the first such declaration of its kind related to famine in the Middle East. In a joint statement issued from Geneva, the World Health Organization, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the World Food Programme, and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) warned that more than half a million people in the Strip are trapped in a state of famine.
