Gaza: UNRWA announced on Wednesday the death of children and the elderly due to severe malnutrition and fainting spells in Gaza as a result of the worsening hunger among civilians and agency staff.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, UNRWA stated that people in Gaza, including UNRWA staff, are fainting due to extreme hunger and starvation. The agency highlighted that people, including children and individuals with special needs, are dying from severe malnutrition.

The statement from UNRWA emphasized the dire situation, noting that “People in Gaza are starving.” It also pointed out that UNRWA alone has thousands of trucks in neighboring countries waiting to enter Gaza since the Israeli authorities banned their entry last March.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Tuesday the deaths of 15 people, including four children, due to starvation and malnutrition in the past 24 hours. This brings the total number of deaths due to famine to 101.

The ongoing conflict in Gaza, from October 7, 2023, to July 20, 2025, has resulted in the deaths of approximately 59,000 Palestinians, with around 141,000 injured, according to Ministry of Health data.
