Gaza: Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), called on Thursday for international media outlets to enter Gaza to reveal the facts on the ground regarding the Israeli aggression in the Strip and counter misinformation. He noted that the occupation authorities’ prevention of these outlets’ entry has contributed to fueling misleading propaganda and dehumanization.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Lazzarini explained, in a post on his X account, that preventing international media from independently covering events in Gaza since the beginning of the war about a year and a half ago contributes to the reinforcement of media misinformation at a time when Palestinian journalists continue to perform their duties under extremely dangerous conditions, noting that 170 journalists have been martyred so far.

He stressed that the free flow of information and independent reporting is essential to uncovering the facts and achieving accountability during conflicts, emphasizing that Gaza should be no exception.

Lazzarini highlighted the importance of immediately allowing international media access to Gaza, noting that the humanitarian crisis resulting from the fighting is leading to the collapse of public order in the Strip.

The Zionist entity resumed its aggression on Gaza on March 18, following a two-month pause under a ceasefire agreement that went into effect on January 19. It violated the terms of the ceasefire by bombing various areas of the Strip, causing casualties and injuries. It refused to implement the humanitarian protocol, and tightened its stifling blockade on the Strip, which is experiencing an unprecedented humanitarian tragedy.
