Gaza: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced on Saturday that the health sector in Gaza is facing serious operational challenges that threaten its ability to provide essential medical services to the population.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Agency stated in a statement posted on its official Facebook page that “health facilities have been severely damaged due to the ongoing military operations for six months.”

The Agency explained that “the challenges include significant difficulties in the safe movement of medical teams, in addition to restrictions on the entry of medical supplies and operating fuel necessary for the operation of hospitals and health centers, with the continuation of extensive demolitions in the northern West Bank since the beginning of the Israeli operation on January 21, which has further complicated the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territories.”

It’s worth noting that the health sector in Gaza is operating below capacity due to a severe shortage of medicines, medical supplies, and fuel, while hospitals continue to receive large numbers of wounded and sick patients under extremely difficult conditions.

UNRWA has appealed to the international community to provide urgent support to save Gaza’s health sector from complete collapse.
