US and Saudi Arabia Forge Historic Nuclear Cooperation Agreement

Washington: The US Department of Energy announced on Wednesday that the United States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have reached a historic nuclear cooperation agreement, along with the signing of a bilateral safeguards agreement. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Department stated that these two agreements establish the legal foundation for a multi-billion dollar strategic partnership spanning decades. The agreements aim to advance several priority economic and strategic objectives, including supporting nuclear nonproliferation efforts. The statement indicated that the US-Saudi partnership will help expand US nuclear technology exports. Additionally, it was confirmed that the partnership agreement will be submitted to the US Congress for review, following established legal procedures.
