Washington: The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Friday that it had conducted precision strikes against Iran, targeting coastal surveillance sites, air defense systems, and naval capabilities. This move marks a significant escalation in the ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from CENTCOM, shared on its X platform, detailed the operation. It read: “US forces, including fighter aircraft, drones, and warships, conducted precision strikes against dozens of Iranian military targets.” The statement specified that these targets encompassed coastal surveillance sites, air defense systems, military logistics infrastructure, and naval capabilities.

CENTCOM emphasized that these actions were taken under the directive of the Commander-in-Chief, aiming to further degrade Iran’s military capabilities and hold the nation accountable for recent attacks on commercial shipping. The statement concluded by noting that more than 50,000 US troops are currently operating throughout the Middle East, remaining on high alert and fully prepared to respond to any further developments.
