Cairo: The United States announced the delivery of a new batch of Chinook transport helicopters to Egypt during the El Alamein International Air and Space Exhibition. This marks a significant update to Egypt’s military capabilities, as showcased by the US Embassy in Cairo through published photos of the helicopters’ arrival.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Egyptian military spokesman Colonel Ahmed Atman Ali confirmed that the CH-47F helicopter is the latest transport aircraft to join the Egyptian Air Force. The acquisition is part of an agreement reached in early 2023, where Egypt contracted with Boeing to purchase 12 of these helicopters for over $426 million.
This delivery is intended to replace Egypt’s existing fleet of Chinook 47Ds with the newer and more versatile “F” model. The addition of these modern helicopters is expected to enhance Egypt’s military logistics and operational capabilities.
