Washington: US Presidential Envoy Steve Wittkopf has expressed concerns over Iran’s apparent lack of interest in reaching a diplomatic settlement with the United States. Wittkopf highlighted the disparity between Iran’s public declarations and its actions, which contradict Tehran’s stated intention to abandon its nuclear ambitions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Wittkopf made these remarks during an interview with CNBC, stating, “The United States believes that Iran’s actions contradict its statements about abandoning nuclear weapons.” His comments underscore the ongoing tensions and diplomatic deadlock between the two nations.

This development comes amidst comments from Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei, who declared that it is inappropriate to discuss any matters other than Iran’s retaliatory measures as long as military aggression against the country persists. Baghaei’s remarks reflect the heightened hostilities and the challenging environment for diplomacy.

The situation has been further exacerbated since February 28, when the United States and Israel initiated a large-scale military operation against Iran. This conflict resulted in the death of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and has been marked by continued exchanges of missile and drone strikes.
