Manama: The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has reported that international shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz have been reopened to navigation following the removal of Iranian sea mines by US forces. This strategic waterway had previously been obstructed, affecting the safe passage of commercial vessels.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, CENTCOM Commander Brad Cooper revealed that US forces have supported approximately 1,500 commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz in recent months. These vessels were responsible for transporting nearly 750 million barrels of crude oil, highlighting the significance of maintaining open and secure shipping lanes in this region.

In response to these developments, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed Iran’s willingness to establish an agreed-upon shipping lane in the Strait of Hormuz. However, he emphasized that this cooperation is contingent upon the US meeting several demands set forth by Tehran. During an interview with Iranian television, Pezeshkian outlined these conditions, which include lifting sanctions on Iran’s fuel and petrochemical sectors, releasing frozen Iranian assets, and resuming investments in the country.
