Baghdad: The US Central Command announced the death of one US soldier and the wounding of another in northern Iraq on July 18 during an operation to dismantle an Iranian suicide drone.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a US soldier was killed in northern Iraq on July 18 during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian single-pilot attack drone. Another soldier sustained minor injuries and is still receiving medical treatment.

Out of respect for the families, US Central Command is withholding additional information, including the identities of missing and deceased service members, during the reporting process.
