Baghdad: The US State Department announced “Ukraine has agreed to an immediate ceasefire proposal with Russia for 30 days.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated in a press release that Ukraine’s acceptance of the ceasefire proposal is a significant step towards ending hostilities. Rubio emphasized that the US will communicate Ukraine’s decision to Moscow, expressing optimism that Russia will reciprocate by agreeing to the proposal.

He further mentioned that President Trump is hopeful about the prospects of Russia agreeing to proceed to the negotiation stage. An American envoy is expected to arrive in Moscow in the coming days to engage in discussions regarding the ceasefire and potential future negotiations.
