Washington: US Treasury Secretary Scott Bisent announced on Friday that the European Union has officially joined the “economic pariah” campaign against Iran. The initiative aims to tighten economic restrictions on Iran by cutting off its access to the global financial system.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Bisent emphasized the unity between the United States and its allies in this campaign. He mentioned at a press conference, “We stand firmly with our allies to ensure the Iranian regime cannot exploit the global financial system.” The coordinated effort seeks to limit Iran’s financial operations and further isolate it economically.

Bisent further declared, “We will not stop until every remaining financial lifeline to Iran is cut off.” This statement underscores the commitment of the US and EU in executing stringent financial measures against Iran, aiming to pressure the regime into compliance with international norms.
