Washington: US Treasury Secretary Scott Bisent affirmed the continued commitment to defending the integrity of the global financial system and thwarting the Iranian regime’s threat.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the US Treasury Department indicated that Bisent emphasized that Iran will not be allowed to threaten international trade or use the Strait of Hormuz as leverage. The Treasury Department added that financial pressure must be maintained on the remaining arteries of the Iranian economy.

It affirmed that the United States will hold accountable those who financially enable the Iranian regime.
