Vehicles Seized for Causing 40 Million Dinars Loss at Al-Mundhiriya Border

Baghdad: Two vehicles were seized that caused a waste of more than 40 million dinars of public funds at the Al-Mundhiriya border crossing. The Border Ports Authority announced the seizure, highlighting the significant financial implications for public funds.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, detachments from the Investigation and Search Department at the Al-Mundhiriya border crossing seized two vehicles loaded with electrical cables. The customs description of the declared material had been altered in the customs transaction completed by the joint inspection committee, where it was declared as copper cables. The inspection process thwarted an attempt to release the two vehicles with a false customs description in order to evade paying the correct duties, which resulted in a loss of 40,509,000 dinars in public funds.

The Border Ports Authority explained that a formal seizure report was prepared, and the two vehicles and the accused were referred to the Al-Mundhiriya Customs Police Station to take the necessary legal measures against them, in accordance with applicable laws.
