Venezuelan Foreign Minister Praises Iran’s Condemnation of US Military Actions

Tehran: Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Yvan Gil Pinto, has expressed his appreciation for Iran's firm stance condemning the United States' military actions against Venezuela. Pinto conveyed his gratitude by sharing parts of a press conference held by Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baqaei, on his X account. During the conference, Baqaei addressed the recent abduction of Venezuela's President Nicol¡s Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, calling it a concerning violation of national sovereignty.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, on behalf of the Bolivarian Government, Pinto expressed sincere appreciation to the Islamic Republic of Iran for demanding the release of President Maduro and the First Lady. Baqaei described the US attack and subsequent abduction as dangerous developments, emphasizing the unjustifiable nature of violating a country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Baqaei further highlighted the importance of the United Nations Charter and contemporary international law, which emerged from humanity's experiences after the world wars. He condemned the actions as crimes that should face accountability before the international community. Baqaei warned that without strong global opposition, violations of international law could embolden future aggressors.

The Iranian spokesperson underscored that the abduction of a nation's president and their spouse is illegal and not a matter of pride. He reiterated the need for President Maduro's release, echoing the sentiments of Venezuelan officials and citizens.
