Baghdad: The Veterinary Department continues its health awareness campaign about hemorrhagic fever. The Veterinary Department, a division of the Ministry of Agriculture, has sustained its veterinary health awareness initiatives targeting livestock breeders. This effort is in collaboration with the Iraqi Red Crescent Society and is part of a strategic plan to curb the spread of infectious and epidemic diseases, most notably Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF).

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Dr. Hamid Abdul Ghati, Director General of the Department, stated that veterinary awareness teams, along with the Iraqi Red Crescent Society, are actively conducting field educational campaigns. These campaigns aim to educate breeders in various regions about the dangers posed by infectious diseases that can be transmitted between humans and animals. The primary focus is on CCHF, which poses a direct threat to livestock and leads to significant economic losses for breeders and the agricultural sector.

Dr. Abdul Ghati encouraged breeders to visit veterinary hospitals and clinics to receive essential health guidance. He emphasized that these campaigns are integral to the department’s efforts to safeguard livestock, enhance food security, and bolster the national economy.
