Baghdad: A wanted drug suspect has been apprehended in Baghdad, with a quantity of crystal methamphetamine seized from his possession. The Federal Police Directorate announced the arrest as part of their ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Federal Police Directorate issued a statement detailing the operation. The statement highlighted the collaborative efforts of the Federal Police units, which are actively executing arrest warrants issued by the competent courts. Acting on precise intelligence information, a force from the Third Brigade, First Division of the Federal Police provided crucial support to detachments from the Anti-Narcotics Office in Al-Zafaraniya. This coordinated effort led to the arrest of a suspect wanted under the provisions of Article 28 (Narcotics) in the southern part of Baghdad. During the arrest, officers seized 15 grams of crystal methamphetamine and six narcotic pills from the suspect.

The Federal Police Directorate’s statement further mentioned that the accused has been referred, along with the seized items, to the competent authorities for further legal proceedings. The operation underscores the commitment of Iraqi law enforcement agencies to address the drug-related challenges facing the country.
